Volunteer at Promise Place!
Volunteering is essential to community life. Volunteering allows you to connect to your community and make a real difference in the lives of those around you. Without it, our work would be impossible, and we would be unable to provide services to those who need them. Sign up to volunteer one day a week, once a month, or part-time. We appreciate any time you can give. Volunteer applications are accepted on a rolling basis. If you are interested, please fill out the interest form or contact the main office (252.636.3381). After we receive your application, we will contact you to schedule interview, training, and volunteer orientations. Due to the serious nature of our work, background checks may be required.

Volunteer Office Assistant
Like staying organized and talking on the phone? Become a Volunteer Office Assistant! In this role, you will help us better serve our clients by filling in at our front desk, gaining administrative experience while helping us stay neat and organized. You’ll help answer the phone, enter data and maintain files, greet clients as they arrive, organize our office supplies, and help out around the office. This position is great for those who want to learn more about how a non-profit operates.
Food Bank Community Worker
Love staying active while helping others? Become a Food Bank Community Worker! In this role, you will help operate the Promise Place Food Pantry out of the Craven Terrace office in New Bern. You’ll help stock shelves, take inventory, and distribute food stored in the Food Pantry office to Keep in mind that this position involves some walking, heavy lifting, and standing for long periods of time.


Neighborhood Outreach
Interested in marketing and promoting? Like attending community events? Become a Neighborhood Outreach Volunteer! In this role, you will help represent Promise Place at a variety of community events around Craven, Jones, and Pamlico counties. You’ll help answer questions about Promise Place, share information about our mission and services, and pass out flyers and other giveaway goodies to event attendees. Have fun while making a difference in your community!
